Horizon Project
Building Confidence, Skills and Independence

The Horizon project offers holistic, person-centred support, to people with additional support needs, enabling them to increase social interaction within their community and build confidence and skills, which in turn improves their mental health and well-being.
Funded by the Henry Smith Foundation and starting in 2022 the project offers personalised planning and provision, as well as group activities.
We currently take referrals from GP surgeries, Social Prescribers and the Job Centre. People can also self-refer.
What we offer
- Personalised planning for individuals
- Group activities
- Support with volunteering activities in the community
We continue to organise arts and crafts groups, cooking classes, well-being walks, and manage a community allotment with our beneficiaries.
Many participants have transitioned to unsupervised volunteering or paid jobs. Through partnership with the Help to Work Project, Horizon also helps individuals build confidence, leading to independent living or employment. We see first-hand the positive impact of group involvement and volunteering on people’s lives.
